Why would I consider buying from a pawn shop?
Pawnshops often have the same brand name items and comparable items at very significant savings compared to original retail prices, and sometimes you will leave with an item that is just as new as it would be if you left the original retail store. Pawnshops are regulated by the State of Florida/Department of Agriculture just like any other business. Just as with any professional business, you will find courteous and interesting employees who are always eager to help you with your questions.
What items can I pawn, and how much can I get?
We typically take in a variety of items, from jewelry to electronics, that are in good working order. The value of an item is assessed based on several factors, such as age, working condition, cosmetic appearance, missing documentation or parts, and consumer demand (which we base off of Ebay and other auction-type sites). Just remember, we are a business and have to buy items at a price that we can make money on. In order to pawn or sell your goods, we need a valid photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or passport), some personal information, and a right thumb print that we keep documented.
How do I know that what I buy is not stolen?
All items taken at a pawnshop, whether loaned or purchased, are listed with a complete item and seller description. This list is provided to the local police and is required by Florida law. The law also requires that the items that we buy be put on hold for a minimum of 30 days before they are available for sale in order to cross-check for stolen property.
What happens if I can’t afford to pick up my items?
As a borrower, you have the option of making an interest-only payment to ensure the continuation of the loan agreement. The loan agreement is for 60 days, and if you need to continue the loan agreement, you just have to pay us 25% of the original loan for an additional 30 days. Communication with the shop is key for the continuation of these loans, or the title to the property passes to the pawnbroker and the property becomes available for sale in the shop.
Who can pick up pawned items?
Only the original borrower may pick up items under most circumstances. The borrower must bring their pawn receipt and photo ID and make payment of all applicable fees before the property is released. In the event that the pawn receipt is lost, a valid Florida driver’s license or state-issued photo ID may be accepted.
What do I do if I think someone might have sold something of mine to the pawnshop?
Please call us and let us know what the item is and who you might think stole it. If we believe something is here that is yours, we will urge you to call the local authorities in your area to work with us on getting your stuff back. You will have to press charges because we will be pressing charges as well. We do not like thieves.
**Cash is the only accepted payment for interest and pawn redemptions.**
